Hello everyone, this week has been a busy week in the garden. After the rain and with the great warm weather there has been a lot of activity in the yard. Flowers are budding and plants are growing. I recieved a email from a woman asking if she can I.D. some bugs on her rose buds. Well I can be 99% positive with out seeing them that they are aphids. They will plague most blooming flowers all year long. Ways to combat these pest can be simple and easy though. Making sure your plants are healthy and strong will naturally repel pest and make sure they can flower with ease. Also using products like Neem Oil or Rose Defense from Geen Light. This product is safe and comes from natural ingredients that kill and repel insects, mites and fungus. When using this product you need to get on a regular application schedule since normally one application will not take care of the problem. If you are looking for something easy to use and dont worry about being organic, use Bayer All-In-One. This is a systemic insecticide, fungicide and fertilizer, all you need to do is water your flowers with this product and it is absorbed by the plants and protects them for up to 6 weeks. Whenever you use any product make sure you read the label carefully to make sure you are not using too much and it is safe to use. If you have any questions write me an email or go into your local nursery and ask a professional. Have a good weekend and Remember Life's a Garden, Dig It!
